Still Time

Still Time came together at Cal Poly. Dan Curcio (vocals, acoustic guitar) and guitarist Chris Arntzen met in the dorms in the fall of 2002; Nick Bilich and drummer John Vucinich followed in 2003, and bassist Paul Smith-Stewart, found in the university jazz band, completed the lineup in 2004. They gigged around San Luis Obispo as Longview, then The New Longview, and settled on Still Time in 2007 when Stream of Consciousness came out. By then High Tide was in heavy rotation on KURQ and the band was opening for Pepper, Robert Randolph and the Family Band and Ziggy Marley.

See America arrived in spring 2009 and the EP Call It What You Want in 2011. Keeping a six-member band on the road stopped adding up, and the group signed off with two nights at SLO Brew, playing See America straight through one night and Stream of Consciousness the next. The last encore, on May 19, 2012, was Come Alive.

Still Time was not a Bay Area band, but the Bay listened. The Bands of the Bay profile, filed under Alternative, Folk rock and Funk, streamed High Tide and carried a 9.7 rating from six votes; by November 2008 the band sat at the top of the site's highest-rated list. The profile's one listed date was a headline show at Pier 23 on the San Francisco waterfront on September 19, 2008, the same year they played the Palo Alto Promenade Film and Music Festival. Bassist Smith-Stewart later moved back to the Bay Area and now teaches music in Marin.
