On May 17, 2008 at 2:40 p.m., Courtney placed 1st in the Contra Costa Performing Arts Society Scholarship competition singing opera in three different languages. Then at 6:00 p.m., Courtney the lead vocal of the Funk and R&B Band Funky Bus and the U-Turns placed in the top three rock and funk bands at the 3rd Annual High School Battle of the Bands at the Sleep Train Pavilion in Concord, CA. A tremdous and historical achievement for one day in performing arts. Look out for this one!
