“It feels good to feel bad,” is the motto for Bay Area band Marrow. The Techno/electro/ industrial rock group will release its 15-track debut CD, ‘Quiet Desperation’ on September 16, 2008, along with an internet campaign that will feature the fictitious “Society for the Advancement of Despair,” (SAD) an organization that opposes all happiness that is faked and forced.
The band finds its musical inspiration from groups like Nine Inch Nails, Aphex Twin, Depeche Mode and The Cure, and it is generally influenced from genres such as underground industrial, electronica, metal, and jazz.
The four member act that started out as a “surrealist-cabaret-sitcom-musical production” SCABARET!, will be bringing it home by playing the little Mission District venue, The Red Devil Lounge, as part of the 2008 SF Sirens Goth Fest.
Marrow will suss around the scene of their native land of San Francisco. before taking their act to the road — playing venues in Boston, New York City, Philly, and a number of spots throughout New England as part of their East Coast tour that starts at the end of September.
Before leaving to the other side of the States, Marrow will bring a bundle of musical sorrow to The Stork Club in Oakland.
Red Devil Lounge show: August 21, 8 p.m. $5 tickets at the door.
