OK, we at BandsOfTheBay.com hate to brag, but we must in this case, because the French Cassettes, members of our website, are among five bands advancing to the finals of the Bay Rising band battle at the Great American Music Hall.
We’re not surprised at all, as when they played our launch party at Red House back in May we knew this band of cool cat high school dudes had some serious talent. (Listen to them on our homepage Mp3 player.)We just think it speaks to what BOTB.com is all about: supporting the talented but unknown musicians all around the Bay Area and giving them all the props they deserve when they find some success.
The FC were among 11 who played in Monday and Tuesday’s semi-finals in San Francisco and Oakland earlier this week.
Also competing will be Dynamic, Joel Streeter, Weather Pending and The Dandelion War. The finals will be Aug. 27, with the winner claiming more than $10,000 in prizes.
As part of the Battle event, there will also be an Expo (which BandsOftheBay.com is a part of) produced by Yonas Media. It will be at ArtHouse before the show at 5:30 p.m.
The winner will walk away with five days of studio recording time from Yonas Media; CD mastering and duplication from Charles Stella; two months of artist development from Fuze Management; and write ups in West Coast Performer Magazine, The Owl Mag, Fusicology.com.
All bands competing in Bay Rising will receive invaluable advice on advancing their careers as well as other prizes from Universal Audio, FizzKicks.com, Zazzle, InGrooves, and SonicBids, and more.
